Share Your Faith

Five everyday ways to love people and help them follow Jesus.

Sharing your faith can begin with the people you already know-your neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family. You can listen well, show up, and talk honestly about the hope you have in Jesus.

Explore the five practices

The people already in your life

Who's in your circles?

Start by noticing the people God has placed around you. Who do you live near, work alongside, and see as you go about your week?

Around your home

Picture the homes in every direction: next door on both sides, across the street, and behind you. If you live in an apartment, think about the people down the hall and above or below you. Whose names do you know? Who could you introduce yourself to?

Where you work

Think about coworkers, people on your team, customers, and others you regularly work alongside. If you are a student, consider classmates and teachers. Who do you spend time with each week?

Your everyday places

Think about the coffee shop, gym, grocery store, school pickup line, barbershop, or places you volunteer. Who do you keep seeing? A familiar face can become someone you know by name.

A simple way to begin

Learn to BLESS.

BLESS gives us five practices we can return to as we build relationships and share our faith: Begin with prayer. Listen. Eat. Serve. Share.

These practices help us live out our mission in everyday life. We trust God to work, make room for people, and look for opportunities to help them take a step toward Jesus.

Put it into practice

Small steps. Meaningful relationships.

Begin with prayer

Ask God to help you see people as he sees them. Pray for their needs, for opportunities to connect, and for courage to speak about Jesus with love.

Read Colossians 4:2-6.

Try this today

Write down a few names. Pray for each person by name.

"God, help me notice where you are at work. Show me how to love this person and help them know you."

Listen

Give someone your attention. Ask about their life, listen to understand, and let them finish. Their story matters, even when their experiences or beliefs differ from yours.

Read James 1:19.

Ask a real question

"How are you really doing?"

"What has been good lately? What has been hard?"

Put your phone away and make time for the answer.

Eat

Jesus often connected with people around a table. A meal, coffee, or a simple snack can create space to know one another and build trust.

Read Luke 5:27-32.

Make room at your table

Invite a neighbor for dinner, ask a coworker to lunch, or meet a friend for coffee. Keep it simple enough that you will actually do it.

Serve

As you listen, you will learn what would help. Offer your time, gifts, or resources in a way that meets a real need. Keep showing up with care.

Read Mark 10:45; Galatians 5:13-14.

Offer something specific

Bring a meal, help with a project, shovel a sidewalk, or offer a ride. Ask first so your help fits what the person needs.

Love freely, without expecting anything in return.

Share

When there is an opportunity, talk about Jesus and what he means to you. Share your own story honestly, and help the person understand the good news about him.

Read 1 Peter 3:15-16.

Ask permission to share

"My faith has helped me with that. Would you be open to hearing a little of my story?"

Speak with gentleness and respect. If they are not ready, keep being a friend.

When the conversation opens

Your story points to Jesus.

Think about what led you toward Jesus, what you came to believe about him, and how following him is shaping your life today. You can be honest about the questions and struggles you still have.

"I used to put my hope in…
Then I began to understand…
Because of Jesus, I am learning…"

Use your own words. Listen to their response, and let the conversation grow naturally.

Share the good news, too.

God loves us. Sin has broken our relationship with him, and we cannot make things right by trying harder. Jesus died for our sins and rose again. Through him, God offers forgiveness and new life.

Read Romans 3:23-24; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 2:8-10.

Invite them to explore what it means to follow Jesus. You could read a Gospel together, bring their questions to Pastor Matt, or invite them to join you on Sunday.
